Preparing a Better Future for the Next Generation
Athania Parkway Early Childhood Center (APECC) is a licensed and fully insured child care center in Metairie, LA. Since our inception on October 15, 2012, we have been offering exceptional care to children from 6 weeks to 4 years old. Our goal is to provide them with a safe learning environment to help them grow holistically.
Fun and Enjoyable Learning
Learning is fun at Athania. Our children acquire a love for books, music, an introduction to Spanish, explore through mathematics and the sciences. Our children are continuously learning using both the Louisiana State Preschool curriculum with components of the Appelbaum curriculum to ensure readiness for Kindergarten. Due to our low child-to-teacher ratio and our dedicated staff, with minimal turnover, your little one receives the individualized attention he or she needs.
Highly-Trained Teachers and Reliable Security System
Each staff member has undergone a federal background check and received CPR and First Aid Certification from the state. The infant teachers on our team are also equipped with Breastfeeding Counselor Training. The use of television, computers, or mobile phones at the facility is prohibited, except for limited and occasional educational purposes or emergency reasons. This is our way of keeping children in our care away from distractions.
With our robust security system, you can have peace of mind knowing that your child is well cared for. Video cameras are installed in every room, connected to onsite monitors that can be viewed in the director’s office. The Office of the State Fire Marshal annually inspects the facility, and we have a fire alarm system in place. In addition, our entrance is electronically locked and only assessable by key fob. Each of the parents and staff is issued a key fob with their individual information upon enrollment.
A Privately Funded Child Care Center
We are a Type I Child Care Center (a privately funded child care) therefore, we don’t accept government funding, such as Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) or any other federal funding. These are the holidays that the center is not open:
- Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Day
- Mardi Gras (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)
- Good Friday
- Memorial Day
- Week of July (Monday to Friday)
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving (Thursday and Friday)
- Winter Holidays (December 24 to January 2)
Athania is our second home. We cannot imagine a better place with better people to help raise our son! Simply put, Athania and all the people here are a Godsend! We have so much love for them and all they do for us!
I would recommend Athania Parkway Early Childhood Center to any parent looking for a great child care. All the teachers are wonderful, caring, and kind. The kids are always happy, well behaved, and having fun doing artwork and singing songs. The center is very nice and clean. It has a cute little kitchen, great outside areas a key entry. I’m so thankful for the peace of mind I have when I leave my children here. I feel very comfortable talking with the director and all the teachers there, and I know I can also just call anytime to check on my child. Both my kids have food allergies, but I know I never have to worry about them. My daughter was there from infant to 3 years old. She learned so much and loved all her teachers. I feel that she was very well prepared and actually advanced for beginning Pre K3. She still wants to go inside and give everybody hugs when we drop off her baby brother. I didn’t consider any other Center when I had my 2nd child. It’s been a great experience with both children. They learn, they have fun, they are loved and cared for. They barely want to leave when it’s time to go!
We are so happy with our experiences with Athania Parkway Early Childhood Center! We have been at Athania since my son (now 3) was 6 months old and started sending my daughter when she was 8 weeks old. I am so thankful for the love and care that the staff at Athania has shown both of our kids. The teachers genuinely seem to enjoy the children in their classes and it feels like they are an extension of our family. Being a household with two working parents, it’s so nice to have a place and people that I can trust to care for my kids so wonderfully. I love seeing all of the art projects sent home and my son went to Pre-K2 knowing how to count to over 30, knowing all of his colors and could say the whole alphabet and he learned this at Athania! They also teach the kids manners (say please, thank you) and to be nice to each other, so our kids get along very well with other children as a result. We are so grateful for everyone at Athania Parkway!
